University highlights

• On May 31, 1850, nine people gathered to begin planning for the university, which will serve the Northwest Territories.
• Given that they had little money, no land and limited experience in higher education, their vision was ambitious. But thanks to a combination of creative finance, a very fine politician's policy, religious inspiration and a lot of hard work, the founders of the Northwest University have made this dream a reality.
• In 1853, the founders of the acreage of 379 acres on the shores of Lake Michigan, 12 miles north of Chicago. They founded the campus and developed the land next to it, to call the surrounding city of Evanston in honor of one of the founders of the University of Dzhona Evans. After completing its first building in 1855, Northwest began classes falling with two professors and 10 students.
• Since then, twenty-one Presidents has presided over the North-West. The University has expanded from 12 schools and colleges, with additional campuses in Chicago and Doha, Qatar.
