University highlights

• 1895 The Oakland Technical School opened in the former skeleton factory on Rutland Street, where 137 students entered evening classes for vocational education and professions.

• 1902 George was appointed first principal of the school.

• The 1905 year. To the triumph of colonial education, the school evaluates more exams than one of the major technical schools of London.The expansion plans are proceeding with the purchase of land on Wellesley Street East.

• 1906 The day the technical school opens. The institution refers to the Oakland Technical College.
• 1913The Minister of Education, James Allen, officially opens the Technical College of the Seddon Memorial.
